Chris Ryan

Name: Chris Ryan
Nickname: Christo
D.O.B.: 28/11/1949
Position/s: Finance Manager
Seasons at Glenelg: 16
Formerly with WESTPAC Bank, having held Management positions in Investments, Marketing, Administration, and Commercial Lending, Chris joined the GLENELG FOOTBALL CLUB in July 1995. He was admitted as a member of the National Institute of Accountants in March 1985 and was made a Senior Associate of the Bankers Institute of Australasia in 1989.
Originally from Sydney, Chris came to Adelaide, via New Guinea with the Bank (then Bank of NSW), married Anne in 1973 and settled at Somerton, in the heart of Bay Territory, to raise a family. Anne’s father (Keith Milhinch) was Glenelg’s League timekeeper in the 1940’s & 50’s and her uncle (Bill Milhinch) was a Glenelg League player & committeeman in the 1920’s/30’s, Secretary from 1937-46 and Treasurer from 1947-52.
Having converted from Rugby League (Balmain Tigers) to Aussie Rules, Chris (with Anne) hardly missed a Glenelg game from 1972 – 1990, when they went with most other Bay supporters to follow the CROWS in the AFL competition. So Football is in their blood and mainly the “black and gold” variety, but their 3 sons all played ……… tennis & music!!
